Message from the Pastor

     I am Wesley Whitworth, Pastor of Wares Ferry Road Baptist Church. I would like to extend an invitation to you to visit with us and learn more about Jesus. 

     We are an independent Baptist church. We hold that a personal relationship with Christ is the chief duty of man. Every believer should immediately be baptized by immersion and unite with a Bible-believing church. Our congregation desires to be a blessing to your family and encourage your walk with the Lord. While the trend in modern churches is to focus on “nickels, noise and numbers”, at Wares Ferry Road Baptist Church, our focus is on the spiritual well-being of our members. We seek to glorify God by teaching His Word as it stands, where it stands in the English Bible.

      The King James Bible serves as the sole rule of our faith and practice. While we would not violate any man’s conscience in forbidding the study of other English translations, the King James Bible is the one and only standard used in our public worship and classes. We heartily recommend it for private devotions as well.

      While all are welcome to attend our services, we do not embrace lifestyles that are contrary to the Bible. As previously stated, we know and understand that people make mistakes, and that people may have done things in their past that are contrary to the Scriptures. Our congregation is driven by the belief that “God will take you as you are, but He will not leave you that way.”

     Our music follows the same standard. We sing the same hymns we learned as children for the honor and glory of God. It is difficult to worship God together when the words and music cannot be understood by all. Corporate worship in singing has God for its audience. Nothing in our congregational singing or special music is done for entertainment purposes.

     If you are looking for a place to worship and learn more about our God in an old-fashioned church environment that does not give in to political correctness, then we want you to come and worship with us.
